Our Roots
Here at STAR Kids, we know that sometimes all it takes to make a true impact is a little support. The core of our efforts include using our experience and passion as a team to help transplant patients navigate through their own transplant journey.
STAR Kids is a non-profit, tax exempt organization formed in 2002. Its purpose is to support the children who are patients of solid organ and tissue transplants. The people who began this organization were parents of transplant recipients and had a true understanding of the transplant journey. They wanted to use their experiences to help other patients and their families with what is often a difficult road.
Now, STAR Kids is run by those very transplant patients who inspired the formation of the organization along with their family members to bring awareness, provide support, and offer resources to current transplant children. Our volunteers and board members understand and empathize with aspects of living through the ongoing and uphill battle of the transplant journey and are driven each and everyday to make that uphill battle just a little bit easier for transplant patients and their families.
